Do you have to pay a fee to the Poison Centre for your notifications?
In accordance with Article 9 of the Royal Decree of 13 November 2011, a fee is due for notifications of hazardous mixtures submitted to the Poison Centre in accordance with Article 45 of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP).
The amount of the annual fee is determined on the basis of the number of mixtures notified by the operator during the relevant year, according to the categories established by the regulations.
What is the role of the Poison Centre?
In accordance with Article 2 of the Royal Decree of 21 April 2016, the Poison Centre provides the Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment each year with a statement of the products for which the required information has been provided, together with the contact details of their submitters.
This statement contains the information required to determine and invoice the fees provided for in Article 9 of the Royal Decree of 13 November 2011. It is submitted to the FPS no later than 31 January of the year following the relevant year.
The Poison Centre therefore does not invoice the fee and does not handle questions concerning its amount, invoicing or payment.
Who invoices and collects the fee?
The fee is claimed and invoiced directly by the Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment, on the basis of the information provided in accordance with the regulations.
