Notification of biocides

In Belgium, any biocide must be approved by the Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and the Environment, prior to its commercialization.

Once your product has received its marketing authorisation in Belgium, you have to declare it to the Poison Centre

Notifications to the poison centre

  • Notification of biocides  classified as hazardous 

    Notification of biocides classified as hazardous, based on the regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, because of its effects on health or because of its physical effects must be done electronically in XML format compliant with Annex VIII of Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/542.

  •  Notification of biocides non-classified as hazardous 

In accordance with the regulations regarding biocidal products, specifically Article 28, §5, point 8 of the Royal Decree of Mai 8, 2014, published on 8 September 2014 , it is essential that the label of each product displays the emergency number for the Poison Center.
This mandates that all biocidal products must be registered with the Poison Center.

For biocidal products that are not classified as hazardous, you have two options: you can either use the harmonized format via the ECHA PCN or choose to notify through the national procedure if you prefer not to adhere to the harmonized format.

Your declaration includes:
- An EDF declaration worksheet: this is a simple Excel file (compatible with Open Office) that you complete before sending it back to us.

- For each mixture declared many documents: SDS, composition, label. All documents should preferably be provided in PDF format.
